Friends In Need has been enrolled in Thrivent Choice!

Friends In Need has been enrolled as a participating organization in Thrivent Choice! What does this mean for you? When eligible Thrivent Financial members direct Choice DollarsĀ® to the organization they pick in a particular month, Thrivent Financial reviews the recommendation and makes an electronic contribution by the 10th of the following month. Those funds may be used to carry out the religious, charitable or educational purposes of your organization.

Holiday Train Event – Tuesday, December 11th

Join us December 11th for the annual Holiday Train event!
The CP Holiday Train will stop on West Point Douglas Road South in Cottage Grove. There will be entertainment from the train’s stage car starting at 6:00 p.m. and Santa Claus will b
e there to visit with the children. Come early and enjoy hot beverages and cookies. First 1,200 children will receive a jumbo Glo-Stick!

All proceeds and donations collected at the Cottage Grove stop go directly to the Friends In Need Food Shelf. Cash is the preferred donation but the need is also great for toiletry items such as bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels or diapers.

If you are unable to attend the event and would like to donate to the Friend In Need Food Shelf, please send checks payable to the Friends In Need Food Shelf to: Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 16, Cottage Grove MN 55016.

Donate a Thanksgiving basket or Adopt a Family for Christmas this holiday season

How can you help the Share the Joy program? Donate a Thanksgiving basket or Adopt a Family for Christmas. Contact your local church or Kris at 651-458-3044.
Food Shelf is also looking for volunteers for both programs.
November 18th 7:30-8:45am at the American Legion Post
December 15th 8am-10am or 11am-1:30pm at the Cottage Grove Armory.

Share the Joy Program at the Food Shelf

Friends In Need is gearing up for the 2012 Holiday Season!
To get help with Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, come to the Food Shelf on one of the following days:
Thursday, October 25th from 5pm-7pm
Wednesday, October 31st from 1pm-3pm
Thursday, November 1st from 5pm-7pm
No appointment needed and no advantage to lining up early! You can sign up for both at the same time. Transportation is not available for these interviews. Remember to bring a picture ID and a proof of address (like a bill) and gift ideas for your children. (around $30 per child)
